palace of the golden horses

It started off with a cool ride on a sunday afternoon - first time I was travelling first class on trans star travles to KL - a 5 hour 20 min bus ride. The seats were fantastic - complete with a personal video screen and massager!

I was on my way to give a speech at the asia pacific chief auditor summit. I was told this was the first time such a gathering was taking place anywhere in the world for chief auditors - auditors ofcourse are enjoying their spot in the limelight cause of stories like enron and worldcom.

My topic was on "A technology update for chief audtitors" - I was given 45 minutes to talk on emerging technology trends. and I was given the graveyard slot - around 3 pm just after lunch:) so I do my best to give this all empowering speech about the future of technology and whats going to shape the technology landscape..

the only problem there was that these guys had not a clue about what i was talking about! as much as i was prepared to make it completely non technical for an audience full of auditors..it still seemed to miss a point...

The saving grace being a good applause from the folks who actually were awake at the end of it..and one pakistani gentlemen, a chief auditor at the biggest pakistani bank walking up to me saying that I was made for something much bigger than all of this and that I have the potential to be the next Bill Gates! Sadly I have heard that before and nothing much has come of it. Hopefully I am still on the right track!
